With the cooperation of Mevlana Development Agency (MEVKA) and World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), "Knowledge Forum on FDI" was held between 10-11 October in Konya with the participation of WAIPA members, İslamic Development Bank members, general secretaries of development agencies, investment support office personnel and local partners.
Having the feature of being the first organization of WAIPA outside of Istanbul, the event hosted guests from Oman, Kazakhstan, Cape Verde, Mauritania, Romania and United Arab Emirates. The experts in the field of foreign investments also participated in the program.
The program started with the opening speech of MEVKA Secretary General Savas Ulger. Later, Konya Chamber of Industry Chairman Memis Kutukcu greeted the guests. After his giving information on Konya economy, The Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry Investment Support and Promotion Agency (ISPAT) President Arda Ermut got on the stage and addressed to the guests. The Head of the Regional Competitiveness Department of Ministry of Development Serkan Valandova joined the event as well.
At the program, FDI Advisor Andreas Dressler, WAVTEQ Limited CEO Henry Loewendahl, fDi Intelligence Global Commercial Director Chris Knight, EY Ankara Office Manager Aydin Fenerli and EY Senior Manager Kerem Kacar gave presentations on investment attraction, investment promotion and regional competitiveness. In the experience sharing section, MEVKA Konya Investment Support Office Expert Ali Kerem Fidan and Invest in Sharjah Director Mohamed Al Musharrakh from UAE gave presentations on their activities. In this section Mr. Velisah Iner, the General Manager of Hamburger Turkey which recently decided on investing in Kutahya, Turkey with the budget of more than 1 Billion Turkish Liras shared his investment decision process experience.
2 days of educative program ended with the closing speech of MEVKA Konya Investment Support Office Coordinator Ismail Unver.
Within the program, Konya tour was also held to introduce Konya to the guests. Konya Organized Industrial Zone (KOS) and InnoPark Technology Development Zone were visited after the program as well.
