Konya and Karaman were Promoted in Japan

Mevlana Development Agency participated in JATA 2016 Tourism Expo Fair held between September 22-25 in Tokyo-Japan in cooperation with Konya Metropolitan Municipality and KOTEV (Konya Foundation for Education and Promotion) in an effort to make contribution to Konya and Karaman tourism and increase the trading volume of tourism agencies. In the booth of our agency, The Head of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Foreign Relations Department, Selim Güleç, also joined the event along with five tourism agencies.

Throughout the event, Konya and Karaman were introduced to the Japanese visitors and materials on historical, touristic and cultural places in Japanese were handed out for promotion together with local and traditional products. Deputy Minister Hüseyin Yayman also visited our booth where Whirling Dervishes Ceremonies were held which attracted the Japanese visitors.

After the JATA Tourism Expo event, Mevlana Development Agency General Secretary Dr. Ahmet Akman stated: "As Mevlana Development Agency, we are aware of the tourism potential of Konya and Karaman and in order to turn this potential into reality we've supported countless projects so far on the sector of tourism. Previously, we also attended international tourism fairs such as World Travel Market in England and ITB Berlin in Germany. Also at this event, we aimed at introducing Konya and Karaman tourism to Japanese people and make contribution to our tourism. The fair organization was very productive; the feedbacks from sector representatives were positive and pleasing. Thanks to the tourism agencies at the event, we had the opportunity of expressing our cultural, historical and touristic values and inviting people to our country and cities. With their deep rooted past, Konya and Karaman cities host countless number of cultural heritage; and with this event we were able to exhibit our values and products. Japanese tourists are already one of the nations that visit our area the most and not unfamiliar to our culture. Our main goal is to increase this advantage and get a bigger slice from the tourism income. As Mevlana Development Agency, we are going to maintain our efforts to make it real and thank Konya Metropolitan Municipality and KOTEV (Konya Foundation for Education and Promotion) for helping us with promoting our cities."
