Mr. Hasan Jafri, a representative of Temasek Holdings visited Konya for two days as part of exploring cooperation opportunities between Singapore and Konya.
As part of the programme prepared by Konya Investment Support Office, the first stop was Mevlana Development Agency. Secretary General Mr. Ahmet Akman and Konya ISO staff informed Mr. Jafri on Konya economy and investment climate.
Mr. Jafri wanted to visit Selçuk University and met with Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof. Adem Öğüt and Department of History faculty member Prof. Ferudun Ata for learning more about the economic and social development of Konya and Turkey.
This was followed by a meeting in Konya Organised Industrial Zone, attended by Governor of Konya H.E. Mr. Muammer Erol, President of Konya Chamber of Commerce Mr. Memiş Kütükçü and President of Konya Commodity Exchange Mr. Hüseyin Çevik. Mr. Kütükçü made a presentation on Konya OIZ and Konya economy. The first day concluded by a business dinner attended by the governor and the presidents.
Second day started with a meeting with Deputy General Manager of Konya Şeker Ali Tunçel and another with MÜSİAD Konya Branch, attended by Branch President Dr. Lütfi Şimşek.
The last stop of the programme was Solimpeks. Mr. Jafri met here with company partner Mr. Hakkı Tayyar and General Manager İsmail H. Karaca.
Expressing his pleasure of visiting Konya, Mr. Jafri remarked that Konya has a large potential with her developed industry and infrastructure. Pointing the signing of the FTA between Singapore and Turkey during G20 summit, Turkey can focus on Asian markets in the future.
